Day 7 of 7
DAY 7 — COMMUNION AND REST: Rooted in Love and Steadied by Covenant
Rooted in Love: A 7-Day Journey of Faith, Wisdom, and Obedience
Anchor Scriptures
Psalm 89:34 (NKJV)
My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
The Rest Reflection
This week has invited you to receive the Father's love, forgive, pray with others, and follow His wisdom into faithful obedience. Communion brings you to the sacrifice beneath that life of fellowship. Jesus gave His body and shed His blood to establish the New Covenant. You come to remember what He accomplished, rather than present a week of spiritual achievement as the basis of your welcome.
Rest in His finished work as you consider the assignments still ahead. Your obedience matters, but it is a response to His love rather than the source of it. You can release the pressure to produce spiritual results through your own strength and receive with gratitude. The One whose covenant is faithful remains the One on whom you depend.
Today's Confession of Rest
Jesus has given His body and shed His blood for me. I receive the New Covenant with thanksgiving and rest in His finished work. The Father's love is the foundation of my faith, and His faithfulness steadies my heart. I move forward in dependence on Him rather than confidence in my own strength.
The Table of Remembrance
Prepare a small piece of bread and a small cup of juice. Quiet your heart, move from striving to receiving, and partake deliberately.
Reverent Self-Examination & Blessing
Before partaking, receive the guidance of 1 Corinthians 11:27-29 by examining your heart and discerning the Lord's body. Bring unforgiveness, careless attitudes, and sin honestly before Him, honoring Christ's sacrifice and the people who belong to Him. This is a response to grace, not an effort to earn worthiness through self-improvement. May the Lord prepare your heart to receive with reverence, gratitude, and renewed love for His people.
The Bread Reflection
The bread turns your attention to the broken body of Jesus, given for you. Here the Father's love has a foundation deeper than the feelings of this moment or your confidence about tomorrow. As you remember Christ, receive with thanksgiving rather than pressure to prove what you can accomplish. Let remembrance renew your willingness to walk in love with the people beside you.
Partaking Declaration: "Lord Jesus, I remember Your body given for me. Thank You for revealing the Father's love through Your sacrifice. As I take this bread, I receive with gratitude and worship You."
The Cup Reflection
The cup turns your attention to Jesus' shed blood and the New Covenant. Your confidence rests in His completed sacrifice, not in how successfully you have managed a responsibility or overcome a difficulty this week. Remember Him with thanksgiving, bringing your trust back to the faithfulness of God. From that place of rest, your continued obedience can be an expression of love and dependence upon Him.
Partaking Declaration: "Lord Jesus, I remember Your blood shed for me and the New Covenant. I receive Your completed work with thanksgiving. As I take this cup, I rest in You and worship You."
Series Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for drawing us with Your everlasting love and teaching us to walk together in faith. Keep us near to Jesus, ready to forgive, and attentive to Holy Spirit. Strengthen our united prayer and help us recognize the assignments You have entrusted to us. Give us wisdom, understanding hearts, and willing obedience one step at a time. Bless those carrying Your Word to other communities and nations, and guide our prayers and service where You have placed us. Let Your presence bring healing and freedom, and keep our confidence grounded in Your covenant as we continue in love, humility, and faith. In Jesus' name, amen.
