Day 6 of 7
Day 6: The Unbroken Covenant
Walking in the Light: A 7-Day Journey from Circumstance to Covenant
Anchor Scriptures
Luke 22:19-20 (KJV)
"And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you."
Devotional Reading
When we are told to walk in the light, we often hear it as a heavy demand to maintain a flawless attitude and execute perfect spiritual performance. When we inevitably fall short, condemnation slips in, whispering that we have drifted back into darkness. But Communion stands at the absolute center of our faith to completely shatter that misunderstanding.
We do not move from darkness to light through self-improvement, nor do we stay there through human stamina. We are sustained purely by Christ's broken body, His shed blood, and His finished work. When you take Communion, you are remembering that your forgiveness, your access to God, and your covenant identity rest entirely upon what Jesus did. We do not manufacture spiritual strength; we receive life directly from Him, the Bread of Life, and depend completely on His Spirit within us.
Today's Confession
Lord Jesus, I rest completely in Your finished work. I reject all condemnation and legalistic striving. My standing with God does not depend on my personal strength, but on the new covenant sealed in Your precious blood. You are the Bread of Life, and I draw my strength, my righteousness, and my life from You today. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice. Amen.
5-Minute Journal Prompt
Are you currently exhausted from trying to "manufacture spiritual strength" on your own? In what ways have you allowed self-improvement to replace simple reliance on Christ's blood and covenant?
Prayer Activation Exercise
If possible, take Communion today using a small piece of bread and juice. As you eat and drink, intentionally declare over your heart: "It is finished. My past is forgiven, my identity is secure, and I am standing in an unbroken covenant with God."
