Devotional Reading
The Lord made the hearing ear and the seeing eye, and He still cares for them. Holy Spirit is at work in you, renewing your ability to hear and understand so that you can recognize the Lord’s voice more clearly. This work of reconstituting involves renewing and reshaping what He has already placed in you. He is not discarding you and starting over; He is improving what He has already placed in you, for clarity, for your future, for vision, for hearing, and for seeing.
Jesus said His sheep hear His voice. Hearing Him is not reserved for a special few; it belongs to those who belong to Him. Yet noise, hurry, and worry can dull your attention. The answer is not to strain harder but to come to Him and receive, asking for His wisdom as you yield to Him.
So ask Him plainly today. Ask Him to anoint your eyes to see and your ears to hear His Word. Then trust Him to be faithful to His work in you, even if the change comes quietly.
Today's Confession
Lord, You made my hearing ear and my seeing eye. Anoint my eyes to see. Anoint my ears to hear Your Word. I am Your sheep, and I hear Your voice. I receive from You what You have for me. Reconstitute my hearing and understanding in the ways of Your wisdom. I receive it now, in Jesus' name.
5-Minute Journal Prompt
What noise, hurry, or distraction has been crowding out your attention to the Lord's voice? Write it down. Then write what you sense He may have been saying to you that you have been too busy to hear.
Prayer Activation Exercise
Find a quiet moment. Place your hands over your eyes, then over your ears, then over the place within where you know Holy Spirit makes His residence in you. At each place, pray slowly: "Lord, anoint my eyes to see. Anoint my ears to hear Your Word. Reconstitute my hearing and understanding in the ways of Your wisdom. I receive it now." Then sit quietly for a few minutes and listen.
