Day 7 of 7

Communion and Rest—From Glory to Glory

From Glory to Glory: Carrying the Presence of God

Anchor Scriptures

Hebrews 4:9-10 (NIV)

There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.

The Rest Reflection

All week you have been invited to draw near, to listen, to pray beyond the room, to say, "Lord, use me," to carry His presence, and to be changed from glory to glory. None of it began with you, and your striving does not hold it together. There remains a rest for the people of God, and the one who enters it ceases from his own works. You do not have to manufacture glory or force transformation.

Today's Confession of Rest

I declare with thankfulness that Jesus has finished the work. I am chosen in Him, joined to the Lord, and sealed with the Holy Spirit because of His sacrifice. His body was given for me, and His blood established the covenant I live in. I cease from my own works and rest in what He has done. Thank You, Jesus.

The Table of Remembrance

Prepare a small piece of bread and a small cup of juice. Quiet your heart, move from striving to receiving, and partake deliberately.

Reverent Self-Examination & Blessing

Before you partake, remember Paul’s instruction in 1 Corinthians 11:27–29: do not eat the bread or drink the cup in an unworthy manner, examine yourself, and discern the Lord’s body. This examination is not how you earn your place at the table, because Christ has already made you welcome through His finished work. It is a response to grace: you let Holy Spirit bring to light any unforgiveness, distraction, or offense that competes with His presence, and you release it to Him. Honor both His sacrifice and the people who form His body, and come with reverence, not fear.

May the Lord meet you at His table, remove every veil, and keep you resting in His covenant.

The Bread Reflection

The bread calls you to remember Christ's body given for you and also the people who together form His body. As you hold the bread, remember absent brothers and sisters, other praying believers, those you regularly carry in prayer, and those who do not yet know the Lord. Your fellowship with Christ flows out in love, prayer, and responsibility toward others, and it all rests on His body given for you.

Partaking Declaration: "Lord, as we take this bread, You said, 'Remember Me.' We remember the covenant. We remember the joy. We remember the peace. We remember Your presence. We thank You for it. In Jesus' name, we take the bread, and we worship You."

The Cup Reflection

The cup points to the blood of Jesus and the new covenant, through which you receive forgiveness, freedom, and fellowship with God. The veil was not removed by your effort, and the glory that is changing you was not earned. Together, the bread and cup declare that the life of the Spirit is not achieved by human striving. It is received through Christ's finished work and lived in grateful dependence on Him.

Partaking Declaration: “Lord, with this cup we worship You and receive Your completed work. We take this cup."

Series Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for choosing us in Christ and giving us Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for what You have shown us this week: that we are joined to You, that You are sharpening our hearing, enlarging our prayers, and working through our ordinary lives. Enlarge our hearts, our vision, and our hunger for You. Teach us to remain close to You, to pray beyond what we can see, and to honor You with our free will. Remove every veil, weed, distraction, and offense that hinders Your work. Make us alert to the people You are preparing, and let Your presence bring light, freedom, mercy, and salvation through our lives. As we remember the body and blood of Jesus, keep us grounded in Your covenant and transform us from glory to glory. In Jesus' name, amen.
