Day 5 of 7
Day 5: Bring Your Concern for the Nation into Prayer
Shuttering the Past: A 7-Day Journey Forward in the Father's Love
Anchor Scriptures
1 Timothy 2:1-2 (KJV)
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
Devotional Reading
Reports about the nation can linger in your thoughts long after the news has ended. Concern for the future is understandable, especially when decisions affect people you love. Yet those concerns do not have to remain an inward conversation with fear. The Father welcomes them into fellowship with Him, where worry can give way to prayer grounded in His Word.
Paul’s call to pray for those in authority gives your concern a meaningful direction. You are not powerless to respond, nor are you responsible for carrying the nation’s future on your shoulders. In Jesus’ name, you can approach the Father with confidence rooted in Christ’s sacrifice rather than the force of your own words. As His love shapes your intercession, the people behind the headlines become people to remember before Him—leaders who need wisdom and communities whose well-being matters. Prayer becomes a place to express both faith in God and love for those affected by the decisions being made.
Today's Confession
I bring my concerns for this nation to God with faith rather than rehearse them in fear. My confidence rests in Jesus’ name, His sacrifice, and the authority of His Word. I stand in prayer for righteous leadership, wisdom, godliness, and honesty. The Father’s love shapes my words and my attitude toward those for whom I intercede.
5-Minute Journal Prompt
Which concern about your community or nation have you been repeatedly discussing or worrying about, and how could you turn it into a specific prayer?
Prayer Activation Exercise
Read 1 Timothy 2:1-2 aloud, then name your community and several leaders before the Lord. Ask for wisdom, integrity, and care for the people they serve. Include thanksgiving as you entrust these concerns to Him.
