Day 1 of 7
Shuttering the Fruitless Past
Shuttering the Past and Moving Forward in Love
Anchor Scriptures
Isaiah 43:18–19 (NKJV)
Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing...
Philippians 3:13b–14 (NKJV) — “forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Devotional Reading
God may close the shutters on a season, pattern, or disappointment so it no longer fills your view. When He shows you something that has not produced fruit, you do not have to keep returning to it or let it define you. You can learn from the past without continuing to live there. As you release the failures, frustrations, and unanswered questions you have rehearsed, your attention becomes free to recognize what God is doing now and to follow Him forward.
Today's Confession
“Father, I recognize what You are closing in my life. I release the desire to rehearse failures, problems, and things that have not produced fruit. I receive Your invitation to go forward with You. I will not allow my past to become my identity or my field of vision. In Jesus Name, Amen.”
5-Minute Journal Prompt
What fruitless pattern, failure, or past situation do you find yourself rehearsing? Write it down, then write a sentence releasing it to God and choosing to move forward.
Prayer Activation Exercise
Spend five minutes asking the Lord, “What are You shuttering?” Sit quietly before Him. When something comes to mind, surrender it rather than revisiting it. End by thanking Him for the new things He is bringing.
