Day 4 of 7
Standing in the Righteousness of God in Him
Shuttering the Past and Moving Forward in Love
Anchor Scriptures
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God.
Jeremiah 23:6 (NKJV)
...Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Devotional Reading
Your standing with God rests on what Jesus has accomplished, not on the strength of your record. Christ bore your sin so that, in union with Him, you could receive His righteousness. When shame draws your attention back to former failures, return to the finished work of Jesus and agree with what God says about you in Him. Receiving righteousness does not make sin unimportant; it frees you to pursue holiness without condemnation. Loved, accepted, and made righteous in Christ, you can obey God wholeheartedly and remain close to Him.
Today's Confession
“Father, I thank You that I do not approach You on the strength of my own record. I receive the righteousness You have given me through Christ Jesus. His finished work is my foundation. Because I am loved and made righteous in Christ Jesus, I choose to obey You and remain near You. Amen.”
5-Minute Journal Prompt
Where have you been measuring yourself by your past record rather than by what Christ has accomplished? Write down what it means for you to let righteousness become the foundation for holiness.
Prayer Activation Exercise
Read II Corinthians 5:21 slowly three times. Thank Jesus for what He accomplished. Then ask the Holy Spirit to show you one area where receiving His righteousness should lead you into greater obedience
